Shanghai Safari Park

Shanghai Safari Park is home to about 10,000 animals of more than 200 species including Asian elephants, South China tigers, golden monkeys, pandas, white rhinos, antelopes, zebras and giraffes. Situated in Sanzao Town, Nanhui District, the park consists of eight different areas including children’s pets’ garden, butterfly garden, flamingo section, carnivore section and herbivore section. Divided into Pedestrian Visit Section and Vehicle Visit Section, the park is one of the largest of its type in China.
Visitors are greeted by a majestic giraffe extending its neck at the Vehicle Visit Section. As you proceed you will encounter friendly elephants, Takins, Martial tigers and more. Be warned that sly fox, agile monkeys and the gauche bears showcase their stunts to steal food from visitors!
Those at the Pedestrian Visit Section get the opportunity of taking group pictures with animals such as elephants, zebras and camels. Visitors also get to cuddle and feed some of these animals. Watch the wonderful performances of these animals who are segregated according to eating habits. Seemingly painstaking efforts have been made in order to simulate the natural habitats for the variety of resident animals.
Visitors can walk through the petting section, butterfly area and a bird garden and enjoy regular shows featuring animals such as sea lions. Being the only drive-through safari in Shanghai, the park makes for an exciting family outing.
Besides Shanghai Safari Park, the city is home to multitude of other attractions including The Bund and the charming Huangpu River. Also make it a point to take a stroll along China’s leading commercial street, Nanjing Road. It is regarded as a landmark and features over 600 retail outlets offering luxurious international brands. Presenting an ideal oasis for a much needed respite from the bustle of the city is the Yuyuan Garden which displays Qing and Ming architectural styles.
