Step into the Jin Mao Tower Shanghai

Jin Mao Tower is the third tallest building in China and is located in the centre of Lujiaz Finance and Trade Districts in Pudong. The tower which occupies 88 stories was built in 1999 and it is 420.5 meters in height and covers an area of 2.3 hectares.

Jin Mao means ‘golden prosperity’ in Chinese and it is considered as one of China’s best constructed buildings. Designed by Architect Adrian D. Smith, this skyscraper has the combined design of traditional Chinese elements as well as modern architectural designs. The building is used for various purposes; it is occupied for offices, a five start hotel, exhibition halls, banquet halls, club, restaurants and so forth. The tower has super fast elevators functioning and there are two direct elevators that operate 9.1 meters per second and can take visitors to the 88th floor in 45 seconds.

No trip to China is complete without ascending the Jim Mao Tower and being mesmerized by the panoramic view of the Huangpu River and the enchanting city of Shanghai. The view from the skywalk on the top most floor of the building offers you one of the best views of the city. There are four entrances to the building, two for the offices, one to enter the lobby and the final entrance is to the skywalk. You need to purchase a ticket at the counter; it’s easy to locate the exact ticket counter since a statue of the legendary actor and martial artist Jackie Chan stands at the entrance.
