Shanghai Tourism Festival – A Celebration of Cultures

The year 2013 will see the twenty fourth edition of the Shanghai Tourism Festival, an annual event held in the massive Chinese city since 1990. It is a joyous celebration of cultures from around the world. From its humble beginnings, the festival has expanded to become one of the largest travel expos in the country. The travel festival kicks off with a grand parade held along the city’s main streets. The parade features floats and performers from countries across the globe.

In 2013 the festival will take place between the thirteenth and seventeenth of September. The opening parade will take place along Huaihai Road, one of the most celebrated streets in Shanghai. Public shows will be held at the Jade Buddha Temple, the Shanghai Museum and the Oriental Pearl. All those who happen to be in Shanghai during the event should definitely try to take part in the festivities. It is bound to be an event to remember.

Although it may not be the capital, Shanghai is China’s largest and most developed city. Over the past two decades it has become a hub for commerce and tourism. The metropolis is home to a number of landmarks including the Yuyuan Gardens, the Oriental Pearl Tower and Zhujiajiao Water Town. The city boasts excellent infrastructure and is a terrific place to visit.

China is a large country by area and is packed full of exotic and interesting attractions. It would be impossible to visit all the country’s main attractions in the span of a short vacation, although many tourists give it a try. Most travellers are put off by the daunting task of booking multiple hotels in China and making complex travel arrangements. Fortunately, China has an excellent public transport system and one can avoid the hassles of finding accommodation by staying with a hotel chain like the Millennium & Copthorne Hotels China.

They have an excellent series of Greater China hotels, each enjoying a central location and boasting all the latest modern amenities. Whether its Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, Chengdu, Xiamen or Wuxi, one can travel secure in the knowledge that a friendly face awaits them in each city.
